I have many passions but sadly, like everyone else, I only have 24 hours in a day. What this means is I have to make choices every day about how I spend what little down time I have. When I added writing novels to my long list of passions, I never realized just how much time it would require. I’m sure any writer will tell you the joys and pains of writing the actual story. Turning a paragraph into a page, pages into chapters and the chapters into a full length novel is no easy task. Add to that the hours upon hours of editing, revising and editing some more and you’ve just sucked up every free minute you have.
What you don’t learn until after you’ve published your first book is how much additional time is spent forming a fan base, posting on social media, marketing and supporting other writers. Reading is an important part of being a writer as well as an activity I get a great deal of pleasure from. Nothing improves your writing more than reading, in my opinion. I’ve been fortunate enough to read several novellas and short stories from Indie Authors in the last month. I have diligently posted my reviews on Amazon and other formats (and encourage others to do the same).
Unfortunately, the editing of my sequel to Remembering Lauren has often taken a back seat to the many other obligations I’ve run into. Don’t worry though, it’s coming along nicely. I also have a daughter preparing for college, and assisting her in her selection process and the many applications, scholarship essays, etc has been overwhelming at times. So please bear with me, if I don’t post as often as I’d like. Eventually things will settle down and I will get back to working on the stories I so enjoy sharing.
